Catappa leaves are regularly used in aquariums because the dark color of the water dampens light and imitates the natural habitat of many fish. Also, it can help reduce stress in fish! This is why many aquarium enthusiasts use the leaves in their tanks. Provide more still natural elements in the enclosure with our coconuts.
Benefits
When placed in the aquarium, the Catappa leaves will slowly break down, releasing tannins that turn the water yellow or brown. The substances in the Catappa leaves (tannins) stimulate a compaction of the mucous membrane. The compaction of the mucous membrane improves skin protection and brings out the colors of the fish. In addition, these substances also have antibacterial effects and are pH lowering.
- Compacting effect on mucous membrane.
- Prevents fungi, bacterial problems, and stress.
- Natural care for pH levels.
Use
You can put the leaves directly into the aquarium, where they will fill up with water and slowly sink to the bottom. After this, the active substances will be released. This process takes two to three weeks, after which you can place a new leaf in the aquarium. You can leave the leaves in the aquarium as they also serve as a popular snack. Catappa leaves can also be used in the terrarium as decoration or shelter. Our leaves are 100% safe.
Fact
Catappa leaves come from a large tropical tree called Terminalia Catappa. This tree can grow about 40 meters tall and is found in the tropical regions of Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America. Because the leaves and bark contain many beneficial substances, they are also used in medicines in the regions where the tree is found. The leaves are picked directly from the tree, cleaned, smoothed, and then dried in the sun. If you keep the Catappa leaves dry, they will keep almost indefinitely.
